Hands off Venezuela had a strong presence at the NDP convention. There were two events, resolutions passed at the youth convention, and much interest in our HOV info table.

As part of an international day of action, the “Hands Off Venezuela” campaign hosted successful events in four Canadian cities to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Bolivarian referendum victory on 15 August.

The international Hands Off Venezuela campaign is publishing a short video of Venezuela's President, Hugo Chavez, thanking the international solidarity campaign "Hands Off Venezuela" and its founder Alan Woods. Chavez thanks HOV for organising a mass rally for him in Vienna the night before.

Tuesday, 15 Aug. marks an international day of solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution. The Hands Off Venezuela campaign is holding a series of events across Canada to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the referendum victory that attempted to remove Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez from power.

The Canadian section of the international Hands Off Venezuela campaign organized successful pickets of the Mexican consulate in both Toronto and Vancouver on Friday. The pickets were part of an international day of action to protest the electoral fraud in Mexico.

Over 40 people jammed into a downtown Hamilton hangout to watch a screening of the film, Venezuela Bolivarina: People and struggle of the 4th World War. The event was put on by Hands Off Venezuela, the November 16 Coalition, and the Skydragon Centre.

Wednesday May 24th saw the successful launching event for Hands off Venezuela Ottawa. 30 local activists and people interested in the processes taking place in Venezuela and Latin America were present to see a screening of "The Old Man and Jesus: Prophets of Rebellion".

On 18 May, Jorge Martín completed his North American speaking tour with an event at the University of Toronto. There was a great attendance of about 75 people, including a large number of youth. Laureano Cardozo, the Cuban consul-general in Toronto, also made a special appearance.
