I was at the Home Depot with two comrades to buy materials for a banner-making activity. We chatted with the worker in the paint section, who looked like someone who’d made protest banners before.
She asked me what the paint was for. I replied that it was to make banners for Palestine. I didn’t stop there. I told her, “We’re communists and we’re planning a student strike to stop the genocide of the Palestinians.” She was obviously very happy to hear that.
While she was preparing our paints, I reported the conversation to the comrades, and fortunately we had a copy of the latest issue of the newspaper. She bought it and I asked her if she wanted to come to the event next Saturday. “Yes, I’ll definitely be there, and I’ll bring my people!” She had a flame in her eyes and is undoubtedly part of that segment of the population that is boiling with rage at the complicity of our ruling class in this massacre.
I’ll keep in touch and see if I can convince her to join the party. As Danton said: “To vanquish, we need audacity, audacity, and yet more audacity!” That’s how we’ll win!
