Millions of people around the globe collectively reeled in horror on Sunday after an IDF airstrike laid waste to a tent camp for displaced civilians in Rafah, killing at least 45 people.
Yesterday the world’s media was rocked by the surprise news that the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, is seeking arrest warrants for war crimes, against Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, and Yoav Gallant, the Defence Minister.
The Palestine solidarity encampments were sparked off in the United States. But by now, the movement down south has mostly died out. Here, we republish a report on the lessons of the movement by our sister party the Revolutionary Communists of America. RCA comrades took an active part in the movement from the beginning. Their experience provides indispensable insight for everyone fighting for a free Palestine here at home.
In Canada, the encampment movement has not seen nearly as big of a decline. However, momentum is beginning to slow down. The biggest encampments are decreasing in size, and the violent state repression at the University of Alberta and University of Calgary is a grim warning for other campuses. Protests against Israel’s American-backed genocidal onslaught in Gaza are escalating on campuses across the U.S.A.
Through Operation PROTEUS, personnel from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the RCMP work as advisors and help shape training programs for PASF recruits. The mission? To “promote peace”, of course, while increasing the level of “professionalism” in the Palestinian Authority’s betrayal of its own people.
