On the very first day of classes I met a Bangladeshi international student who had participated in the 2024 revolution. His eyes lit up when he saw our paper’s headline and he quickly bought a copy and gave me his number. We met up the next day after he had read our DSA and Kashmir articles, and he told me our perspectives were like a “breath of fresh air”. He said that he wished that he had been organized during the protests and bemoaned the co-opting of the movement and the corruption of the Communist Party of Bangladesh. I pointed out that a class-independent leadership would have been necessary to overthrow capitalism, and he emphatically agreed, saying “this party seems like that kinda thing.” His enthusiasm about the party has really rubbed off on me, and he’s attending our next branch so we can get him organized!
