[I]s it not natural that youth should predominate in our Party, the revolutionary party? We are the party of the future, and the future belongs to the youth.

– Engels

The communists are taking over the campuses this fall! So far we have met thousands of students across 35 campuses in Canada and Quebec who are questioning capitalism and are looking for answers.

After passing by, a group of five young women came back to us to have a discussion. Starting from who Marx was, we went to the history of the October Revolution [and]… why we need Marxist ideas more than ever… At the end of the conversation, the first girl said, “I feel like I’ve learned more in this conversation than I have in the last five years,” and eagerly bought a paper.

Under capitalism, young people are staring down a future that has nothing to offer them. No jobs, no housing, no peace. The youth therefore have all this, and so much more, to fight for.

Being a party made up of students and young workers is one of our strengths. It means our paper sales, public discussions, and communist contingents at protests are always bursting with energy. The revolutionary optimism that comes from our study of marxism paired with the explosive dynamism of the youth allows us to connect with people ready to fight this rotten system.

Armed with a tent, two tables and a literature stand [we] set up in the busiest place on campus, we made sure that the communists were unmissable. From 8am-5pm, there were always at least five comrades at our tent, ready to talk to an endless stream of students about the crisis of capitalism and what we could do about it. By the end of the day, we collected the contact details of 85 people who wanted to get involved!

…We also spoke with workers from the university and the surrounding neighborhood, including an older Iranian woman who was delighted to see young students fighting for communist ideas. She told us, “Communism and Marxism are the truest, most humane ideas there are.” She bought a newspaper for herself and her husband!

Comrades at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON.

Our members have plastered the campuses with over 25,500 posters and stickers making us an unmissable presence for students returning to classes this fall. At the McGill campus alone, our comrades put up 900 posters.

As we were doing this, a group of students came up to us and asked us what posters we were putting up. When we responded by showing them our poster: “Capitalism means austerity. We need to crush capitalism”. One of the students immediately took out her phone to scan our QR code!

– Olivia T., McGill

When asked if students wanted to “overthrow the billionaires” or if they “hate the Epstein class”, a significant amount responded with a resounding yes. In total, over 50 registered to get organized …[and] 90 students bought issues of our paper to learn what it would mean for Canada to go communist! We were so omnipresent on campus that students were asking if we were “the ones with posters everywhere,” and …students who had just registered at one location would bump into a second table [on campus].

This fall we hit the ground running with Communist Revolution #28. The main article explains how a socialist planned economy would solve the main problems facing Canadian workers and youth today. It translates our program into a concrete proposal of what a socialist Canada could look like. This has resonated with newly radicalized students who are looking for a way forward. We have sold 3,859 copies of this issue, making it the best sold issue of our newspaper ever!

During the first paper sale for our fall offensive, a comrade and I watched three university students excitedly walking away from the table, each with a hand on one paper, giving it a good look. We overheard the group discussing who would get to take home the paper that day, the following day, and so on, essentially “sharing custody” of the latest issue!

– Taylor M., TMU

On the very first day of classes I met a Bangladeshi international student who had participated in the 2024 revolution. His eyes lit up when he saw our paper’s headline and he quickly bought a copy and gave me his number…he told me our perspectives were like a “breath of fresh air”.

– Lauchlan B., UofC

We also organized 15 meetings on the topic of a communist Canada across the country and 40 more meetings on a variety of subjects such as overthrowing the Epstein class, the climate crisis, and the Cuban revolution. Hundreds of students attended these meetings, eager to learn more about our ideas. So far, we have sold 25 per cent more theoretical material than at this time last year which shows the real thirst for knowledge of young people.

About two weeks ago, I joined a group on Instagram that was filled with young people who had heard of the RCP and wanted to get organized and learn about the ideas of marxism. We organized a meeting in person, where we talked about various topics… These youth had a thirst to learn more about Marxism, and they bought around $60 worth of literature.

The first day of classes at McGill was met with the bold and enthusiastic presence of our comrades. There were prolonged periods where every comrade present was in constant conversation with one or more curious students. One approached … and asked for our “pitch”… I explained the reasons behind our optimism and enthusiasm: the decrepit state of capitalism, and the accelerating radicalization of the young people… She gave a “hell yeah!”, followed us to our table, and immediately gave us her contact details. I immediately invited her to our cell meeting later that day, and she asked “can I bring a friend?” … Surely enough they were both at the meeting that night.

As a result of all this hard work, 100 people have agreed to join the RCP in the last five weeks! But we are not just collecting members. We want to educate and train them in the most powerful ideas and methods to fight for a brighter future—a future without war, misery and oppression. A future without billionaire parasites ruling the world and ruining the planet.

We are organizing the forces necessary to build the revolutionary vehicle that will rid us of capitalism once and for all. This is an ambitious goal so we need all the help we can get—we need you. Join the Revolutionary Communist Party today!
