Revolution is coming to Canada. We’re building the party to lead it, and we’re on the brink of a milestone: the first 1,000 communist organizers that will form the foundation of that party. Will you be among them?
Building a revolutionary alternative
The capitalist system is mired in a deep crisis, and every day more people are coming to the conclusion that it must be overthrown—the problem is that these people are not organized.
Millions of people in Canada, particularly young people, are in favour of revolutionary ideas like communism.
This growing radical layer is a big enough constituency to be a significant force in politics. Yet so far it hasn’t been a force at all, because it has no mainstream party to represent it. The RCP’s task is to become this party, starting by recruiting hundreds this fall to build a base of 1,000 trained, organized communists.
And this is just the beginning. These 1,000 communist organizers will be signing up to build a much larger party, one big enough to have an influence on and ultimately lead the class struggle.
Preparing for revolution
The building of this party is not taking place in a vacuum. The global crisis of capitalism is only getting worse. Politicians the world over all fail to offer solutions to the crisis, because there is no solution within capitalism. This is the fundamental reason why, as the system continues dragging society downwards, more and more people are seeking a revolutionary alternative.
Canada is no exception. No matter what party has been in power, things have continued to get worse, because the Canadian ruling class also has no solutions to the crisis of the system. As the crisis deepens, sooner or later, Canada will join the ranks of countries like Bangladesh and Nepal which have recently seen revolutions.
But while all history demonstrates that revolutions are inevitable, victory is not. That is determined by whether a far-sighted leadership is present to show the path to victory.
This leadership can only be provided by a mass communist party, with tens of thousands of trained communists to be able to reach broad enough layers of the working class. By building a significant force of educated and trained communist organizers today, we lay the groundwork for winning a mass base for communism in the coming period and leading the masses to victory.
A new type of party
To build this party, we need all the help we can get. This is why we are appealing to everyone who has come to the conclusion that capitalism needs to be done away with to join and help us build the Revolutionary Communist Party.
The bankrupt parties of the capitalist establishment don’t want active, educated members. They want passive voters who can easily be duped. Our party is a new type of party.
Being a member of our party isn’t about buying a membership card and voting once every four years, as it is in the mainstream parties. It’s about actively building the party and training yourself into a cadre—a skilled communist, experienced in the movement and steeped in Marxist theory, capable of thinking on your feet and winning people to a communist program in the midst of the revolution.
Each person who joins and trains themself into a cadre today has an exponential effect tomorrow. As the class struggle advances, wider and wider layers will be open to our arguments. If we have the cadres to put forward communist arguments in a skillful, understandable way, we can grow massively. Everyone who joins and trains themself today can win over ten people when a mass movement comes to Canada and a hundred in the midst of a revolution.
When revolution comes, this will make the difference between victory and defeat.
Therefore, joining the RCP this fall is really about dedicating yourself to the success of the future revolution. It’s a pledge to play your role in the fight for a brighter future—a communist future. As the great revolutionary Malcolm X said, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
