What should comrades expect when selling the paper enthusiastically? You will meet enthusiastic people! At our latest sale, we sold over a dozen copies and made several promising contacts. One of them was particularly enthusiastic, and I asked if they’d like to join us selling the paper. They replied, “Why the hell not?” And then proceeded to sell several papers using the slogan “Do you want power to be in the hands of the people?”

A key to building this enthusiasm has been the political discussions we hold beforehand. Since Halifax was recently ranked the most “extreme” in terms of cost of living among Canadian cities, with rent robbing 57.8 per cent of monthly income, we focused our discussion on the housing crisis. Comrades came up with slogans and ways to explain the solution to people who haven’t heard our ideas before. With more confidence in explaining the ideas and some tips to shake off the nerves, comrades were equipped and eager to sell the paper!
