Live music is quickly becoming a luxury that workers cannot afford, but Ticketmaster CEO Michael Rapino thinks that concert tickets have actually been “underpriced”. “Music has been underappreciated,” he said, “In sports […] it’s like a badge of honour to spend 70 grand for a Knicks courtside, but they beat me up if we charge $800 for Beyoncé.” Apparently, we should feel “honoured” to spend thousands of dollars on a ticket for a concert. And if we’re angry about high prices? Well, according to the guy running Tickemaster, that’s just because we don’t “appreciate” music enough.
