Today, I had to put a piece of my co-worker’s finger in a bag after it was severed by the machine he was working on. He was making valves for the control systems company we work for. No one seemed to know what to do, so I had to step in and make sure his missing finger was saved so it could be reattached. After he was taken to hospital, I went to check-in with my other co-workers. They told me this isn’t the first time this has happened, and one of them proceeded to show me the scar where his own finger was reattached. I asked them how much they get paid. They said, “the same amount as you.” I make just above minimum wage. We simply do not get paid enough for this shit.
